Real estate agents recognize that they are required to present a lead paint disclosure to purchasers of pre-1978 property pursuant to federal statute. Many real estate agents are unaware that contractors who engage in work in pre-1978 structures are required to be certified by the EPA in order to work safely in these structures and not contaminate a building with lead dust that is extremely harmful to the occupants. This course introduces the agent to the certification requirements for contractors, regulations and work practices when contractors perform renovations in a pre-1978 structure.
